How to use it
Take last month's statement from each marketplace you use and enter:
- Orders a month and average order value, from the statement or your till.
- Commission rate, the percentage taken from each order under your contract.
- Other monthly fees: card or service fees, marketing packages, tablet rental, refunds for missing items.
- Share you could move: the part of these orders that comes from regulars who would order from you directly, given an easy way to.
The calculator multiplies it out for a year. It is arithmetic on your own numbers; rates and fees differ by platform and contract.
Reading the result
Not every marketplace order is worth moving. A first order from someone who has never heard of you is marketing, and paying for it can make sense. Repeat orders from regulars are where commission adds up. Our guide to what marketplaces and menus really cost walks through it.
Your own ordering link
With commission-free online ordering, guests order pick-up or delivery from your own link and menu, and you pay a subscription instead of a share of every order.
Frequently asked questions
How much commission do delivery marketplaces charge?
It depends on the platform and your contract. Research reported in Ireland in 2020 found rates of up to 30% per order. Use the rate on your own statement.
What counts as other fees?
Anything on the statement besides commission: card or service fees, marketing or visibility packages, equipment rental and refunds charged back to you.
Is my data stored anywhere?
No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing you enter is sent to QRestAI.
